Today, Wal-Mart Corp., which owns the Sam’s Club chain, opened its doors to the public in a step towards giving the consumer what they want. If you didn’t know, there are 3 Walmart stores within the Yellowstone County. One store is located in the Billings Heights while another store is located on the westend of Billings. The third store is located in Laurel, just north of Interstate 90/94.

Billings is now seeing the fruits of the new development called Billings Town Square off South Billings Blvd. If you’re a resident of Billings, this is welcoming news as Costco and Sam’s Club will go head to head competing for bulk prices. If you are looking for lower prices, then this is also welcoming news for those in the Billings regional area; especially for families.

As many out of town guest come from Northern Wyoming to shop for food and supplies, this will give them another reason to stay longer.

Sam’s Club reps, who have saturated the walmart stores over the last couple months, opened to the public yesterday and all the hard work is now be paying off. Well, not just yet! According to the Billings Gazette, Sam’s Club gave grants to some 20 organizations totaling about $38,000 in hopes to create some excitement about the brand new location and store in the new development called Billings Town Square. So needless to say, it will take a week or two to get the money back that was just donated to the different groups. However, it was money well spent for sure.

Another enhancement to the Billings Town Square location is that Cabella’s Outdoor and Outfitters store opened its services to the public as well. So far, Cabella’s has had a positive reception by the communtiy. As Montana has many hunters, fisherman, outdoorsmen, and such; Cabella’s has been an attractive place for all to visit. I always wondered if Billings would get a big outfitter store but with the growth of the area, it was without question that Billings is the next ‘boomin’ town to get big chain stores.

With Sam’s Club and Cabellas, one can only imagine what’s coming next to Billings Town square. Since there is plenty of space for a strip mall, convenience store, or better yet; another movie theatre. Either way, I’m sure we’re all excited to see what will go in next.

The new development that is called Billings Town Square has nothing to do with our wesbite called www.BillingsTownSquare.com. However, it just so happens our site has a familiar sound but entirely different focus and function. This site was picked with the intention to give a place online to discuss events, ideas, and satire humor that might directly or indirectly affect anyone online as well as for satire humor and enjoyment.

" width="265" height="300" />Well, as many of you know; Pappy, the Montana cowboy continues to provide horseback rides (not at this moment since there’s snow on the ground) and riding lessons to the masses in Montana, especially in Billings. From the adventurous mountains to the Little Bighorn Battlefield, (formerly known as Custer’s Battlefield where Custer’s Last Stand reenactment takes place). But you’ll never guess what big ideas he has for horseback rides and trail rides for the state of Montana until you talk to him. In fact, guess what he’s got planned this coming Spring? Well,

It has been rumored that a reunion for the historic and famous Montana Cattle Drive from 1989 that started in Roundup, MT and came to Billings, MT might be in the news again. Well, at least a reunion of the adventure but not in Billings like it was last time. Can you imagine the city approval for that to happen again in this day and age? Can you imagine the lawsuits and approvals it took to get it all accomplished in those days? What about the permits for law enforcement and blocking of roads for that to work? Let me tell you , it wasn’t easy!

This is a picture taken of the Montana wagon train adventure during the Montana Cattle Drive in 1989

Well, let me tell you. I had the opportunity to speak to one of the coordinators of the historic event from the Huntley Project High School area. He mentioned that he had never spent so much time on one specific event like the Monana Cattle Drive preparations compared to any other events he’s planned. Not to mention, the amount of people, visitors, wranglers, media, horses, cattle, wagons, stagecoaches, and cowboys it took to roundup this western adventure successfully. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would take to do it now, especially in Billings. I would bet money it would be impossible, but I’m not a betting man so I won’t.

Therefore, I’ll leave it up to those like Pappy and others to think up the big ideas of another Montana Cattle Drive. But until then, word is on the street or should I say trail, that its being proposed and thrown out among the dust and wind of a cattle drive reunion, but going from Ingomar to Miles City. Now I could see something like that happening, outside of Billings. Only time will tell if this will happen again. I’m still not convinced I’ll see another one at this time though.

So until then, Pappy and his guides (cowboys who give horseback rides) will continue to provide great Montana horseback riding, wagon rides and western adventures in Billings, MT.

Pappy is conducting horseback rides along Pryor Creek Stream

So whether your looking for just a simple stroll in the Montana Big Sky country or a simple BBQ dinner with steak, cowboy beans and pappy’s famous fry bread, contact Jonathan at Western Romance Company or call 406-348-5941 for your group activity or family adventure.

Billings, Montana. Montana’s Trailhead and Town Square In the spirit of active events in Billings, Montana; we have added this new website to have another platform for the Billings area residents to enjoy. As this could be considered a town hall forum, we promise it will be more that just that. However, please be patient as well develope it entirety with future banners, links, and new information that is local to the billings Montana area and surrounding cities and towns. Until then feel free to browse the rest of this site and also visit http://www.montanastrailhead.com

Billings is also known as the Magic City along the Rimrocks and cliffs that surround the yellowstone valley. However, it’s also been recently deemed Montana’s Trailhead! That means it’s the starting point for the great state of Montana. From here all trails and highways lead to other great places of the state but Billings is the central city for Montana. Billings is also a frequent stop for westbound visitors to Yellowstone National Park, as it is the last major city for visitors going to the park via the Beartooth Highway in Red Lodge. As Billings is a gateway to Yellowstone National Park, Custer’s Battlefield & Reenactment and Pompey’s Pillar Historical Monument; Billings is also a central location point for major sporting tournaments and events as well as business conventions in and around the downtown Billings metro area.

This Billings Montana online website provides resources for those coming to Montana cities in a number of ways from the local horseback rides that are offered to country western tours in and around the Billings city limits as well as specialty trips to outlining towns and historic places. As a central point of reference, Billings Montana web would like to focus on the many companies and businesses that offer their services to locals, visitors, and tourists as resources, references, and allow locals and visitors the endless possibilities presented in the State of Montana. Whether it be from direct tourism, tourists, or visitors coming from out-of-state for events, leisure travel or business, Montana presents many surprising elements of the West that can be experienced as well as enjoyed from the peaks of the Rocky Moutains to the valleys and streams below.

// ]]>

Montana also attracts many groups and families from other states due to the National Parks like Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Fishing and water sports are also included for outdoor activities while bowling and some sporting events are conducted indoors. The Metra Park arena has been a center for these indoor events while yet other conference and meeting places for sports are available in the city limits and through out the state of Montana.

Montana’s future looks bright in that new developement are underway in cities to accommodate the neccessary change that had evolved over recent years. As Billings is the larget city and most diverse city in Montana, new roads, commercial buildings and construction are in process to allow travel within billings to be even better. As Montana has some of the best highways and interstates, newer roads and complex developements are being developed to meet the needs of Montana’s welcoming environment and atmosphere.

" width="300" height="158" />With the new year 2010 now upon us and the new years resolutions already shattered ( well, I hope not all of them); comes new life and energy. As many of you know, Mayor Ron Tussing is on his way out because come next week., the new Mayor elected back in Novemeber is Tom Hanel and he’ll take his place on Monday night at the head of the City Council Chamber meetings. Mayor elect Hanel seems confident to get some new energy arriving in the Billings area from government communication to local activities in the local area. One thing for sure, time will tell as we start this ride with Mayor Hanel.

In the past year or so, Billings has made significant changes in regards to making the city a little more easily accessable. If you haven’t driven the state highway 3 along top the rimrocks or near the Billings Logan International airport; it’s a sight to see as well as a drive to make. With all the city lights and sights; it’s no wonder Billings has been deemed Montana’s trailhead by the Billings Chamber of Commerce.

To the Westend of Billings along Shiloh road (also known as 40th street), new round-abouts have been installed from the north to the south at the major intersections. Reason has it that round-abouts provide energy efficeincy coupled with better traffic control at the major intersections.

A roundabout is one of several types of circular road junctions or intersections at which traffic is slowed down and enters a one-way stream around a central island. Technically these junctions sometimes are called modern roundabouts, in order to emphasize the distinction from older circular junction types which had different design characteristics and rules of operation. In the United States those older designs commonly are referred to as “rotaries” or “traffic circles”. Roundabouts are designed to make intersections safer and move efficiently for drivers, pedestrians and cyclist. Did you know that roundabouts are the newest form of intersection in the U.S?

Now as billings is the biggest city in Montana, new businesses have recently set up shop and more are coming. Outdoor retail giant Cabella’s has come and opened its doors and currently provides business at the new Billings Town Square shopping corridor. In addition, retail giant Walmart (now 3 stores in the Yellowstone County area) will be opening its extended arm of Sam’s Club in January. Billings will win in many ways in that more jobs will be acquired as well as competitive food prices. Sam’s Club (an extention of Walmart), will go head to head with bulk food prices against Costco. Costco has been all alone in the Billings region for awhile until now. It will be interesting to see how much the consumer wins.

However, with all the new developements occurring in the Billings Town Square area, only time will tell what new giant retailer or food joint will sprout up in the metropolis of Billings. For example, what about In-and-out Burger, Jack-in-the-Box,or another Mexican or Italian (Frazolli’s) restaurant. Five years from now, what we have now will be out of date. Who knows, maybe the Pappy’s Cowboy Cookout will explode and be another means by which Billings is put on the national and internationsal map more than it is already.

With all this speculation on what the future brings to Billings, Mayor Tom Hanel has endless opprotunities to bring his energy, expereince, and leadership to work for Billings residents. I’ve personally met the guy and his wife and I’m convinced he’s got a lot of opportunities and can do the job. Time
