Today, Wal-Mart Corp., which owns the Sam’s Club chain, opened its doors to the public in a step towards giving the consumer what they want. If you didn’t know, there are 3 Walmart stores within the Yellowstone County. One store is located in the Billings Heights while another store is located on the westend of Billings. The third store is located in Laurel, just north of Interstate 90/94.
Billings is now seeing the fruits of the new development called Billings Town Square off South Billings Blvd. If you’re a resident of Billings, this is welcoming news as Costco and Sam’s Club will go head to head competing for bulk prices. If you are looking for lower prices, then this is also welcoming news for those in the Billings regional area; especially for families.
As many out of town guest come from Northern Wyoming to shop for food and supplies, this will give them another reason to stay longer.
Sam’s Club reps, who have saturated the walmart stores over the last couple months, opened to the public yesterday and all the hard work is now be paying off. Well, not just yet! According to the Billings Gazette, Sam’s Club gave grants to some 20 organizations totaling about $38,000 in hopes to create some excitement about the brand new location and store in the new development called Billings Town Square. So needless to say, it will take a week or two to get the money back that was just donated to the different groups. However, it was money well spent for sure.
Another enhancement to the Billings Town Square location is that Cabella’s Outdoor and Outfitters store opened its services to the public as well. So far, Cabella’s has had a positive reception by the communtiy. As Montana has many hunters, fisherman, outdoorsmen, and such; Cabella’s has been an attractive place for all to visit. I always wondered if Billings would get a big outfitter store but with the growth of the area, it was without question that Billings is the next ‘boomin’ town to get big chain stores.
With Sam’s Club and Cabellas, one can only imagine what’s coming next to Billings Town square. Since there is plenty of space for a strip mall, convenience store, or better yet; another movie theatre. Either way, I’m sure we’re all excited to see what will go in next.
